November 8, 2012 - IPG Mediabrands Australia’s media intelligence and investment unit MAGNA GLOBAL is opening operations in Melbourne and has named Marcelle Gomez as general manager and Tom Andrews as investment director.
Melbourne will be MAGNA GLOBAL Australia’s second operations base, with the business previously consolidated in Sydney under managing director Victor Corones. The new MAGNA GLOBAL Melbourne office will also report to Corones.
“With highly impressive growth rates and a constantly growing client portfolio, we are looking into the future for MAGNA GLOBAL and how to best place its resources against our clients and our agency teams,” said IPG Mediabrands Australia executive chairman Henry Tajer. “A large percentage of MAGNA GLOBAL’s growth is located in Melbourne and it makes sense for us to formalise operations there.”
MAGNA GLOBAL Melbourne will manage media intelligence and investment for IPG Mediabrands’ three main agency brands in Melbourne – UM, Initiative and MBThree – with major clients including L’Oreal, Coles, Bunnings, Officeworks, Target and Kmart.
Prior to her appointment to MAGNA GLOBAL Gomez was a group director at UM, overseeing L’Oreal and World Vision. Her client assignments have been taken over by UM group director Kylie Pascoe. Andrews was previously UM Melbourne’s investment director and he will continue many of his duties in the new MAGNA GLOBAL role.
Corones said: “MAGNA GLOBAL Melbourne is a major investment in expanding our business’s capabilities, reach and client relationships. Marcelle and Tom and the team will work closely with our Sydney team and we look forward to their contributions as the pace of media continues to accelerate.”
The office is open for business this week.
